Best Practices for Auto-Creation of Fact Pages from Prompts

Auto-Create Fact Pages

Updated over 3 weeks ago

What Auto-Creation of Fact Pages Does

When Auto is enabled in a prompt, CORTO automatically determines which Fact Pages to use or create based on the prompt configuration.

  • If Fact Pages are defined in the prompt

    • Auto uses those Fact Pages as the data sources

    • Existing Fact Pages with matching titles are reused

    • Only missing Fact Pages are created

  • If no Fact Pages are defined in the prompt

    • Auto defaults to using the entire matter as the data source

How Auto-Creation of Fact Pages Works

  1. The Prompt is run.

  2. Prompt is processed asynchronously, allowing users to navigate away and continue working on other tasks while processing completes.

  3. Fact Pages are identified and extracted from the prompt.

  4. Existing Fact Pages are checked from exact title matches.

  5. Any missing Fact Pages are created and populated.

  6. The prompt runs using the completed Fact Pages.

Best Practices for Prompts Using Auto

1. Update the prompt to specific headers

To enable the AI to correctly break down information in a prompt, prompt headers must follow a consistent format: use ALL CAPS, replace spaces with underscores (_), and end each label with an immediate colon (:). The template headings should be as follows:

  • TITLE:

  • PURPOSE:

  • PRELIMINARY_QUESTIONS:

  • FACT_PAGES:

  • LEGAL_RESEARCH:

  • TEMPLATE:

  • RULES:

2. Review the Fact Pages in the prompt

Our family law experts have created Fact Pages, presented as a table of titles and descriptions, each aligned to the specific facts required to complete templates in relevant documents, such as the Affidavit – Initiating Financial/Property Proceedings.

We recommend reviewing the prompt carefully to ensure the included Fact Pages align with your drafting goals.

3. Add or delete Fact Pages through the Prompt

Fact Pages included in the prompt determine which information Auto uses when the prompt runs.

Note:

  • Only Fact Pages explicitly defined in the prompt are used by Auto.

  • To add or remove Fact Pages, we recommend updating the Fact Page table (including titles and descriptions) within the prompt.

  • Manually created Fact Pages that are not listed in the prompt will not be included in the output.

4. Be precise with Fact Page titles if creating your own Fact Pages

  • Titles must match exactly to reuse existing Fact Pages

  • Treat titles as fixed identifiers, not flexible wording

FAQs – Auto-Creation of Fact Pages

What does “Auto” Filter mean?

Auto means the system automatically determines whether to use Fact Pages or information from the entire matter, based on how the prompt is defined.

Auto does not always create new Fact Pages. It uses existing Fact Pages where available and only creates new ones when required by the prompt.

Will Auto duplicate Fact Pages?

No. Existing Fact Pages are reused if the title matches exactly. Only missing Fact Pages are created.

Why didn’t my existing Fact Page get reused?

Titles must match exactly. Even small wording differences will cause Auto to treat it as a new Fact Page.

How long does it take for Fact Pages to be auto-created and the prompt to run?

The time required depends on the volume of documents in the matter, the number of Fact Pages that need to be created, and the length of the prompt. In some cases, this process may take 10 minutes or more.

Even so, it is significantly faster than manually completing these tasks.

Can I complete other tasks while Fact Pages are being auto-created and the prompt is running?

Yes. Fact Page creation and prompt execution are asynchronous, allowing you to continue working on other tasks while processing completes.

Can I change back to another model if I don’t want to auto-create Fact Pages and/or run the prompt faster?

Yes. You can go to the arrow dropdown next to the reload button and change the model to CA-V2, which is our faster model for general prompts.
